A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

This year has certainly been one of great growth for the Markus Paul Foundation, at the same time one of sadness with the passing of John Glavin, the Foundation’s Board President. It is because of John’s dedication and

leadership that the Markus Paul Foundation carries on Markus’ Legacy of helping, serving and being a light to others by providing support to students who are excelling in academics, athletics, and in their communities. The Foundation is pleased to announce the recent appointee to our Board of Directors, Jim Glavin. To carry on from his brother, Jim will be the liason between the Foundation and the Syracuse University Athletic Department. His responsibilities will include managing the Markus Paul Foundation’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament held in Syracuse, NY.

Looking back over the past year’s accomplishments, the Foundation is proud to announce a $10,000 scholarship was awarded Nate Wellington, a Syracuse University football player. As a hard working student athlete, Nate carries an impressive 3.8 GPA.

In addition, David Ray Buggs and Terry Cruz of Osceola High School in Florida were both selected for the Markus Paul Scholarship Award for 2023. These scholarships are given annually to recipients for their accomplishments in citizenship as well as their community involvement.

The Foundation continued its tradition of making contributions to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Osceola County and to the Morristown Church of Christ in Morristown, New Jersey. Other contributions were made to the Church of Christ in The Colony, Texas.

Lastly, contributions were made to 30 students within the City of Syracuse so they could participate in a 2 week summer program on the campus of Syracuse University.

I would be remiss not to recognize those for making the 3rd Annual Markus Paul Golf Tournament a great success. Without your support none of these scholarships and accomplishments would be possible. I would like to especially thank Tim Green and the Barclay Damon Law Firm, Meier’s Creek Brewery, Mike Woicik, James Mobley, the Drescher Foundation and Tuscarora Golf Club.
